COLLOQUIALISMS TRANSLATED FROM SPANISH INTO ENGLISH
This is a project inspired on the rich set of colloquialisms which the Vallecaucanos speak every day, in the way to provide a physical tool for the foreign visitors which have to face with a new variety of Spanish full of informal and colloquial language thus, creating a communication problem for the English speaker and Spanish learners as well at trying to understand what local people say or express. So that, the aim of this project is to describe the contribution a Manual of colloquialisms spoken in the Valle del Cauca can have in a group of English speakers which are learning Spanish in one way or another.
(The manual will include the colloquial words with a short definition and proper context in Spanish and the correct approach into English with a short definition as well as the pronunciation represented in phonetics symbols)
The manual is intended to be delivered to the group of English speakers for a period of time (a week), in which they will be reading it and learning the appealing words, afterwards they are about to use those words into a real context in the way to perceive its utility. when the established time finishes the researcher must gather with one by one in the way to take notes of the perception the speakers found at contextualizing the colloquial words; Whereas, this gathering transcends the researcher will give an amount of exposure to the speakers by using some colloquialisms in a genuine conversation in order to realize how they respond to the oral inputs and measure the manual’s contribution.
